What is Voice of a verb?

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎The voice of a verb expresses whether the subject in the sentence has performed or received the action. There are two types of voices; Active Voice and Passive Voice.

• Active Voice:- It is the form of the verb which means the action is performed by the subject in a sentence.
• Eg: The author wrote several books.
• In this sentence, it can be noted that the subject performs the action.
• Passive Voice:- Here, the action of the verb is done to the subject from/by the object in a sentence.
• Eg: Several books were written by the author.
• In this sentence, the the subject receives the action of the verb.

Common RULES to change the voice from active to passive:

‎ ‎1. Identify the Subject, Verb and object in the sentence.

‎ ‎2. Interchange the object and subject with each other.

‎ ‎3. Change the base verb into the past participle form of the verb.

‎ ‎4. While changing the voice, the pronoun used in the sentence should also be changed, like:

• They → Them
• He → Him
