We belong to the generation where we all have constricted ourselves to a self made wall of technology. Technology has become an integral part of our everyday lives. It is helping us to co-ordinate our imagination with reality.
We are moving towards an era where we do not need to move physically to get most of our work done. Technology helps us to accomplish the tasks in less amount of time with fast speed of communication. Introduction to gadgets to facilitate modern living probably has emerged to be significant in today’s world. The invention of smartphone, personal computer, play stations etc has helped us to great extent, but at the same time it is seen that this technology has become an addiction not addition! This technology is made by human intelligence and hard work not vice versa. Today we feel more comfortable to sit before our computers and use Google to get ideas and information. Unlike the days where we used to write or speak about a particular topic and to find the information ,we used to browse through book shelves of library and wander through our creative minds for new ideas.
Of greater concern is a marked loss of social skills ,creative minds and ability to interact with the world beyond internet clique . We all have become a kind of digital natives with internet as a basic necessity. Today every second person calls him or her tech-savvy but who actually is a tech-savvy, still remains a question? A tech savvy is a person who uses internet to his or her advantage. Advantage here means using internet not for entertainment but only for work purpose which is quite a time misunderstood. We all have to quit this virtual world and come back to the real world where we all actually belong to!
However, there are still two sides of the same coin! All the modern technology have their own benefits too.They give us portability, accessibility and availability to a lot of information which in turn boosts our knowledge. It is not wrong to involve gadgets in our lifestyle but revolving our lives around gadgets is somewhat disconcerting.
Time and tide waits for none! Technology leads to heavy time destruction. Therefore the solution to this needs to implied by the parents and caretakers. They need to be prepared to create clear boundaries for children. Outdoor playing should be preferred over technology. People should be able observe tech-free times during meals, homework,etc. Following a particular time table shows the direction too. If you can make use of something that makes your life easier while maintaining enough inner strength and freedom to avoid dependence, you become the master.
Rome was not built in day. Changes can be made on a daily basis and they would subsequently lead to revolution. Bringing change doesn't mean to change the world in a day but to nurture the vision of doing it slowly and steadily. Charity begins at home and the first step would be to believe in one self. It is high time to face life, review the minor disproportions and bring about the desired change. But who can do it? We can, We will and We shall. So let us all bring a change little by little and make this world a better and real place to live in!
