if the teenager takes interest in sports, we should support and wncojrage him to go further . however if they have no interest in it , you can introduce it to them and show them the nice qualities of it but not force them if they still don't like it. but on the other hand if they're having bad health conditions and need serious sports or exercise you have to encourage and maybe force them at times . but don't take it too far.
