Chloroplast

✍️They are spherical \bold{oval \:or \:disc}ovalordisc like in shape.

✍️Each chloroplast is covered by a double membrane.

✍️Outer membrane is \bold{freely \: permeable \: membrane}freelypermeablemembrane and \bold{smooth}smooth

✍️Inner membrane is \bold{Selectively \: permeable\: membrane}Selectivelypermeablemembrane

✍️Space inside the inner membrane is filled up with a fluid called the \bold{stroma}stroma

✍️ Embedded in the stroma are a number of flat disc like structures placed one above the other forming a \bold{pile}pile

✍️ Individual discs is called \bold{Thylakoid}Thylakoid and pile is called \bold{grana}grana

✍️ Several grana are interconnected by means of bridges called \bold{lamellae}lamellae

✍️Stroma of chloroplast contains it's own DNA and ribosomes.

✍️So, they are also known as Semi autonomousorganelles

Functions

➡️ Chloroplast is site of photosynthesis

➡️It prepares the food for the plant so it is also called the \bold{kitchen\: of \: the \: cell}kitchenofthecell

Answer....

✔️Chloroplast is a cell organelle present in plant cells .

✔️It is a double membrane bound organelle which is semi- autonomous is nature , i.e. , it has its own DNA .

✔️It is responsible for photosynthesis. It contains the pigment CHLOROPHYLL which captures light energy and converts it into energy storage molecules like ATP and NADPH . Breakdown of these molecules releases energy which is used by plants later.
