The process of conversion of free atmospheric nitrogen into useful nitrogen compounds is called nitrogen fixation.
It also have two types :-
1. Natural fixation
2. Artificial fixation.

Nitrogen fixation of Nitrogen :
(By Symbiotic bacteria)
Certain plnats such as peas, bean, pulses etc. have bacteria Rhizobium on the nodules of their roots. The bacteria Rhizobium can take up atmospheric nitrogen and converts it into nitrates. Nitrates get mixed up with soil after the death of such plants.
