chemical substance is a form of matter having constant chemical composition and characteristic properties. Some references add that chemical substance cannot be separated into its constituent elements by physical separation methods, i.e., without breaking chemical bonds.

A pure substance consists of a single type of particles which are same in their chemical nature and cannot be separated into other kind of matter by any physical process

Example - oxygen , nitrogen , distilled water , iron metal etc.
