Pasteur →He gave the name virus to these obligate parasites which means venom or poisonous fluid .

Ivanowsky → he discovered that viruses caused mosaic disease of tobacco and were smaller than bacteria .

Beijerinek → He gave the term Contagium vivum fluidum which means infectious living fluid which he extracted from virus infected plant .

Stanley → He showed that virus could be crystallized and are largely made of proteins .
