Each year on September 5, we celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as Teacher’s Day. He was a great teacher and India’s second President.
Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 in Tirrutani, a town in Tamil Nadu. He grew up to be a great teacher and was respected a lot by his students. When he became the President of India, some of his students met him, asking for his consent to commemorate his birthday with a celebration; however, he said that he would feel proud if September 5 is celebrated as Teacher’s Day.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on (September 5, 1888 Tiruttani India died on April 16, 1975 in Madras Now known as ( Chennai) , India) He was a scholar and statesman who was president of India from 1962 to 1967. He served as a professor of philosophy at Mysore (1918 to 1921) and Calcutta (1921-1931 ; 1937-1941) universities and as vice chancellor of Andhra University (1931 to 1936). He was a professor of Eastern religious and ethics at University of Oxford In England (1936 to 1952 ) and vice chancellor of Benares Hindu University 1939 to 1948 in India. From 1953 to 1962 he was the vice chancellor of the university of Delhi. He retired from politics after being the president of India. His some popular written works include Indian Philosphy, 2 vol. (1923 to 1927) and the Phillosphy of Upanishads in (1924). He wrote some reflections in 1955. He tried to interpret ''India thought for Westerners" in his lectures and books.
