Oxidation
-it is process in which electrons are lost from an atom
-which involves addition of oxygen
-removal of hydrogen
-addition of electronegative element
-removal of electro positive element
Reduction
-it is process in which an atom gains electrons
-removal of oxygen
-addition of hydrogen
-removal of electronegative element
-addition of electro positive element
Redox Reactions
-combination reaction is in which 2 atoms or molecules combine together to form 3rd molecule in this oxidation and reduction takes place
-decomposition reaction is in which a molecule breakers down to form 2 or more atoms or molecules simply reverse of combination reaction
-displacement reaction is in which an atom in a compound is replaced by another atom or ion
if metal atom is displaced then metal displacement reaction if non metal then nonmetal displacement reaction
in this oxidation and reduction takes place
-disproportionation reaction in which a single species is oxidised and reduced simultaneously in this a element which can have 3 variable oxidation states

 \huge \mathfrak {Answer:-}

1) \:Reduction:-

=> It is the process of removal of oxygen or addition of hydrogen to a chemical substance.

For example,

CuO + H2 => Cu + H2O

In this reaction, copper oxide is losing oxygen. Thus, CuO is getting reduced to Cu.

 2)\:Oxidation:-

=> It is a reaction that involves gain of oxygen or a loss of hydrogen.

=> When a substance gains oxygen or loses hydrogen during a reaction, it is oxidized.

For example:

 2Cu + O2 => 2CuO

3)\:Redox\:Reactions:-

=> It is a reaction in which simultaneous oxidation and reduction of the chemical species are involved.

=> In a redox reaction, one substance is oxidized, while the other is reduced.

For example:

Fe +Cu2+ => Fe2+ + Cu

Here Fe is oxidized to Fe2+ while Cu2+ is reduced to Cu.
