  • A no.of seals have been found at Mesopotamia. IVC seals were made of Steatite soft stone.
  • Seals were rectangular and square shaped.
  • On the seals, animals and pictographic script were available.
  • Pictographic script was used by IVC people.
  • They wrote from left to right (the first line) and went right to left alternatively. This type of script is called as BOUSTROPHEDON script.
  • Mesopotamian seals were cylindrical shaped. Mesopotamian script was called CUNEIFORM script ( like needles).
  • Seals were used for trading and recognition.
  • Some of the animals seals found include- the unicorn seal and the Majestic Humped bull seal
  • Another iconic seal was the Pashupati Seal.
  • Pashupati Mahadeva has 3 heads and two horns. He was surrounded by 4 animals - Elephant, Tiger, Buffalo and Rhinoceros.
  • He sat on the throne with crossed legs( yogic posture ) and with half eyes closed.
  • Two deers were close to his legs. There was no bull or cow on the seal.
