Finally, the efforts to overturn the U.S. elections that began in late 2020 reached a crescendo on January 6, 2021, when armed protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol and American democracy literally and figuratively dodged a bullet.

On reflection, however, I am optimistic about 2021, because of what we are learning. Here are three lessons.
