marasmus is the disease in children of 1 to 12 months of age due to the deficiency of protein and calorie in diet .it is also called protein calorie malnutrition. the symptoms include growth retardation ,muscle wasted eyeball enters within the cavity, skin becomes dry and folded, ribs become very prominent ,immunity is reduced, body seems to be made of bone and skin only so looks like old.
