Newton's first law explains that if a body is at rest it remains in the state of rest or if a body is in a state of motion it continues to be in a state of motion until and unless some external unbalanced force acts upon it . this property of the body is said to be inertia hence this law is also called as Newton's Law of Inertia or law of inertia
