tell me about Solids !!
Answers
Answer:
The Molecule are very closely packed. They attract each other with Strong force, so molecules cannot move from one position to another . That's why a solid is hard , rigid and has a definite shape and volume. We cannot compress solid mych
The term "Solid" describes the state, or condition of matter which have a definite shape. So, it is a sample of matter which retains its density and shape when not confined.
There are mainly four fundamental states of matter. These are :- Solid , Liquid , Gas and Plasma.
Solid is one of the state of matter. Unlike liquid and gas, solid state has a definite shape which is generally not easy to change.
Liquids take the shape of the container where it is kept. But in a solid, molecules are packed together, and it keeps the shape of the solid.
There are some solids which can be hammered or squashed into many different shapes without breaking. These kinds of solids are known as malleable materials. Again, some solids can be pulled and stretched easily into extremely thin wires. They are known as ductile materials.
When a solid is heated, the molecules or atoms gain kinetic energy . If the heating temperature becomes sufficiently high, the kinetic energy overcomes the forces that hold the molecules or atoms in place. Then the solid which is heated may become a gas or a liquid or it may react with chemicals also in the environment.
