Sure, in my youth, I knew some people who did small-time things, and I was a little bit involved here and there. But I learned not to mess around. Adrián Lamo says prison’s educational. 1.Don’t hang around those people.

2.Don’t talk about anything, ever.

Real hackers, after they get caught, turn pro and become security professionals. Often, pretty quietly. Most of them, you never hear of. One old friend of mine does security in the finance industry. You’ve heard of the companies he’s worked for - I can guarantee that. But you haven’t heard of him. Nor have you heard of the vast majority of hackers who quietly went to work for the government.
