Music, when soft voices die,

Vibrates in the memory -

Odours, when sweet violets sicken,

Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,

Are heap'd for the beloved's bed;

And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,

Love itself shall slumber on.

1. What is special about music?

Ans 1. Music is not just the listening but feeling about the lyrics 'when soft voices die' means when they fade away it echoes in our memories. Memories stays forever. Music lives in our memory after it has ceased to be played. Beautiful and lovely songs we can never forget and they stay in our memory forever. Our mind is refreshed when we remember that music. Even when we can't hear it physically, we can feel it in our imagination.

2. What do you mean by 'odour' ?

Ans 2. 'Odour' means smell.

⇛ Poet says when sweet and pleasant odour i.e., smell of violets fade away, we can still feel and enjoy it's pleasant smell in our memory and imagination.

3. How do dead roses add beauty to one's life?

Ans 3. The poet tells that when roses die or fade away, they are used for decorating beloved's bed because they still retain their pleasant and sweet smell. The poet is trying to emphasize, "A thing of beauty is joy forever."
