Step-by-step explanation:

A percentile is a measure used in statistics indicating the value below which a given percentage of observations in a group of observations fall. ... So, a percentile says how many students have scored less than you on a give test, whereas a percentage says how much you have performed if the test was of 100 marks

heyy mate...!!!

Percentage means out of 100. For e.g, if you have scored 80%(80 percent) in an exam, then it means out of every 100, you have an 80

Percentile means if the entire range of students is divided into 100 groups, which group do you belong to.

If we analyze this in the context of CAT,

If your result says you have got 90 percent, then it means 90% of the total marks. So 270 out of 300.

But if the result says 90 percentile, then that doesn't mean your score is 270. It means your score is better than 90% of the applicants. You may have scored 150, but 90% of the applicants are below that score.

I hope I clarified your doubt.
