If you observe the picture It is made up of two triangles i.e

Triangle ABC , Triangle CDE

✠SOLUTION:-

✠As we know that In a triangle

Sum of three angles in a triangle is 180° .So,

In a Triangle ABC ,

✠∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

34° +82° +∠C = 180°

116° +∠C = 180°

∠C = 180°-116°

✠∠C = 64°

"x" forms a linear pair i.e Sum of those angles is 180°

x+64° =180°

x = 180° - 64°

✠x = 116°

In a Triangle CDE

✠∠C + ∠D + ∠E = 180°

x + 24° +∠E = 180°

116° + 24 ° +∠E = 180°

140° + ∠E = 180°

∠E = 180° - 140°

✠∠E = 40°

"y" forms a linear pair i.e Sum of those angles is 180°

y+ ∠E = 180°

y + 40° = 180°

y = 180°-40°

✠y = 140°

So, the value of x , y are 116°,140°
