We know that seven colors of a spectrum combines together to give the white light .

Clouds are made by the evaporation of tiny water droplets that refract the light coming on it .

It refracts the light coming from the sun in a proper blend that is all the colors are splitted in equal proportion. These all colours coming to us recombine to again form the white light .

In this way, we see the clouds to be white . But it depends upon conditions to conditions. If the clouds are denser that they can absorb some colours, all colors will not reach and we see them of other colors like grey, black, etc.

The seven colors of spectrum (violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red) combine together to produce/create white light.

Clouds are white because the water droplets (of which the clouds are formed) scatter the light of the seven colours.

They refract the light coming from the sun in equal proportions and hence clouds appear to be white in colour.

However, rain clouds are darker than normal, white clouds because they are thicker and denser and so, they scatter more light. Hence, the clouds appear to be grey or darker to us.
