When asked what’s 12x3 or 4*5 what they are really asking you is what’s 12+12+12 or what’s 4+4+4+4+4 .
Division on the other is repeated subtraction therefore when asked 12/3 or 4/2 think of it as many many times I can take out of the number 3 from the number 12 and how many 2s are there in 4 .
