A great circle is a circle that is drawn on the surface of a sphere (such as the earth) that has a radius equal to the radius of the sphere, and whose centre is also the sphere's centre.

The Equator is the only latitude which is a great circle. All the longitudes are a part of a great circle. It's uses:

Great circles show the shortest distance between two places.

Great Circles are used by meteorologists to determine climatic and weather conditions in a region.
