The moral of the story The Clever Jester is that cleverness always pays.
- Jester served in the royal court and the ruling king had a great regard for him. Not only was the jester good at cracking jokes but he was smart enough to assist the king in certain official matters.
- One day, as usual, he laughed at the king but the king felt offended and was really angry with him. In frustration, he told the guards to grab him as he was making fun of the king.
- He ordered to put him in prison and to be hanged after three days. Three days later, jester was taken to trial, where he was asked, as to how he wisehs to die, and that will be his last wish.
- The clever jester replied, "Your Majesty, I want to die of old age." The king chuckled loudly after he heard the humorous comment of the jester. At that time his rage had also subsided and he had forgiven the jester. The jester proved wit is stronger than even the most powerful man on Earth.
