lets consider two triangles

1. triangle ABC

2. triangle ADC

In triangle ABC base is 6 cm and height is 3cm

by using formula of area of triangle-

½*base*height

½*6*3=9cm sq

In triangle ADC base is 6cm and height is 5 cm

by using formula of area of triangle -

½*base*height

½*6*5= 15 cm sq

total area= area of triangle ABC + area of triangle ADC

9+15= 24 cm sq
