Evergreen forests:-
- Evergreen forests are found in regions which are hot and receive heavy rainfall.
- In India, these forests are found along the slopes of Western ghats, in the hills of North eastern India, and in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Some important trees of these forests are ebony, Mahogany, bamboo and Rosewood.
- These trees are tall and form a canopy at the top.
- Trees in these forests do not shed their leaves at all at once. Therefore,these forests appears green all the time hence they are called evergreen forest.
Tidal forests:-
- Tidal forests are also called as swamp forest or mangrove forest.
- In India, these forests are found in the delta region of Ganga Brahamputra, Mahanadi, Godavari and Krishna rivers.
- West Bengal has biggest stretch of mangrove forests known as Sundarbans. Sunderbans get their name from a well known from sundari which grows and abundance.
- The main trees found in these forests are mangrove and palms.
- A special feature of the mangrove trees is that their roots grow above the soil.
- These forests can grow in both fresh and salty water.
