Evergreen forests:-

  1. Evergreen forests are found in regions which are hot and receive heavy rainfall.
  2. In India, these forests are found along the slopes of Western ghats, in the hills of North eastern India, and in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  3. Some important trees of these forests are ebony, Mahogany, bamboo and Rosewood.
  4. These trees are tall and form a canopy at the top.
  5. Trees in these forests do not shed their leaves at all at once. Therefore,these forests appears green all the time hence they are called evergreen forest.

Tidal forests:-

  1. Tidal forests are also called as swamp forest or mangrove forest.
  2. In India, these forests are found in the delta region of Ganga Brahamputra, Mahanadi, Godavari and Krishna rivers.
  3. West Bengal has biggest stretch of mangrove forests known as Sundarbans. Sunderbans get their name from a well known from sundari which grows and abundance.
  4. The main trees found in these forests are mangrove and palms.
  5. A special feature of the mangrove trees is that their roots grow above the soil.
  6. These forests can grow in both fresh and salty water.
