RBC is a biconcave disc shaped cell.RBC contains hemoglobin which imparts red colour to the RBCs.
The peripheral region of the cell is thick compared to the centre. The peripheral region contains more haemoglobin and appears dark red in colour. The centre region is pale due to less hemoglobin and it's called the area of pallor.
The amount of hemoglobin plays an important role in determining the health of a person.
Hemoglobin helps as oxygen carrier in blood.
Normal amount of hemoglobin present in the blood is 12-15 mg/dl approximately.
