here, in the figure,

in ΔABD & ΔACD,

AD = AD ( common )

∠ADB = ∠ADC ( AD⊥ BC )

∠BAD = ∠CAD ( AD is the bisector of ∠A )

∴ ΔABD ≅ ΔACD ( ASA congruency )

By CPCT, AB = AC

∴ ΔABC is an isosceles triangle
