a) Sonar is a technique that uses sound propagation to navigate, communicate with or detect objects on or under the surface of the water. It works on the principal of echoes.

b) Distance= rate*time

1500*16=24000 m/s

Depth of ocean= v*t/2

1500 *16/2=12000

c) You cant hear an echo in a room because in order to hear an echo there must be a distance of at least 17m between the source of sound and the body from which sound is reflected.
