ఒకనాడు కుందేలు తాబేలు తో ఒక పందెం వేసుకుంటుంది ఎవరైతే ఆ కనిపించే కొండను మొదటగా చేరుకుంటారో వారే గెలిచినట్టు అని ఆ పందెం సారాంశం.

ఉత్సాహంతో కుందేలు వేగంగా పరిగెత్తటం మొదలు పెట్టింది కొంత దూరం చేరాక కనుచూపుమేరలో తాబేలు కనిపించక పోవడంతో అది దగ్గరే ఉన్న చెట్టు నీడలో విశ్రాంతి తీసుకుందామని నిర్ణయించుకొని అక్కడ కొంచెం సేపు కునుకు తీసింది.

ఈలోపల కుందేలును దాటిన తాబేలు ముందుగా గమ్యాన్ని చేరుకుంది.

నిద్ర లేచి చూడగా మరలా కనుచూపుమేరలో తాబేలు లేకపోవటంతో కుందేలు తన గమ్యం వైపు పరుగు తీసింది.
