ISA Temperature & ISA Deviation

03-08-2014, 15:50

Hi there ... I have a few questions to ask: How to solve these questions

1) What is the ISA Temperature & ISA Deviation if the height is 37,000 feet & is -45 degrees ?
(Ans: -57 degrees for ISA temperature & +12 for ISA deviation)

2) What is the ISA Temperature & ISA Deviation if the height is 57,000 feet & is -67 degrees ?
(Ans: -57 degrees for ISA temperature & -10 for ISA deviation)

3) If the limiting deviation for an aircraft at an airfield is 5000 feet AMSL & the ISA is +10, what is the maximum temperature at which I can operate
(Ans: +15 degrees)

4) If the deviation at 3500 feet is at +12, what is the ambient temperature? (Ans: +20 degrees)

Answer:

+03°C

Explanation:

Temp loss per km is 6.5°C

ISA Temp at mean sea level is 15°C

ISA Temp at 2 km = 15 - (2*6.5) = 2°C

ISA deviation = Actual - ISA = 5 - 2 = 3°C
