Explanation:

As the thickness of wire decrease it increases the resistance of wire so as we know that

V=I R

where V=potential drop

I=current

R=resistance

so as the resistance of wire increases it will increase the potential drop which will result in more consumption of electricity.

so the increase in wire has the same effect as of the thickness so we can say that both are directly proportional to eachother.
