Given:

C = 5(F - 32) / 9

To find:

Make D the subject of the formula.

Give the answer in the form \frac{aC + b}{c}.

Solution:

C = 5(F - 32) / 9

Move 9 to the left-hand side, it will get multiplied with C

C × 9 = 5(F - 32)

9C = 5(F - 32)

Now, move 5 to the left-hand side, it will get divided with the whole term

9C/5 = F - 32

Now, move 32 to the left-hand side, it will get added with the whole term

9C/5 + 32 = F

\frac{9C}{5} + 32 = \frac{9C + 5 * 32}{5}  = \frac{9C + 160}{5}

From the above formula, we get

a = 9

b = 160

c = 5
