10 * 3 + x = 40

To find the value of x is a matter of simple subtraction, but not apparently. So, first to address the multiplication:

10 * 3 = 10 + 10 + 10 = 30

Now plug this back into the equation:

30 + x = 40

This next bit is easy, but not simple. I’ll avoid using English for it.

30 = 40 - x

40 - 30 = x

10 = x

One could go about this in a simpler way:

40 - 10 = 30

30 - 10 = 20

20 -10 = 10

If 40 is the result of adding 10 three times, just work backwards by subtracting.

hope it helps you mate .
