Question 1.

Given that, 10 copies of a book form a pile of 3 cm high. And we have to find out how would be a pile of 25 copies.

10 copies ----- 3 cm high

1 copy ------ 3/10 cm high

So,

⇒ 1 × 25 copies ------ 3/10 × 25 cm high

25 copies ------ 7.5 cm high

Hence, 25 copies of that book would form a pile 7.5 cm high.

Question 2.

Ravi cycles a distance of d = 41 km in time t = 2 h at a steady (uniform) speed.

We have to find how many km did he cycle in 1 hour. here, We have to find the distance travelled in one hour.

⇒ 41 km in 2 hours

Divide both sides by 2, So we would get the time as 1 hour.

⇒ 41/2 km in 1 hour

∴ In one hour, Ravi would cycle a distance of 20.5 km.

Question 3.

A salesman bought 24 umbrellas from a dealer at a rate of Rs. 55 per piece.

Then, He sold them for a total amount of rupees 1500.

We have given the selling price. Let's find the cost price of 24 umbrellas given rate is 55 rs.

⇒ 24 × 55

Rs. 1320

Since, The cost price is less than the selling price. so it's clear that the salesman gained some profit which is given by,

⇒ Profit = S.P - C.P

⇒ Profit = 1500 - 1320

Profit = Rs. 180

The profit of salesman is Rs. 180
