Answer:-

Given:

Ratio of Diva's age to Namrata's age = 3 : 4.

Let the age of diva be 3x and that of namrata be 4x.

Also,

Ten years ago diva was 1/2 the age of namrata.

  • Namrata's age before 10 years = 4x - 10 years.
  • Diva's age before 10 years = 3x - 10 years.

According to the above condition,

⟹ 3x - 10 = 1/2 * (4x - 10)

⟹ 3x - 10 = 1/2 * 2 * (2x - 5)

⟹ 3x - 10 = 2x - 5

⟹ 3x - 2x = - 5 + 10

⟹ x = 5

Hence,

  • Namrata's age = 4x = 4(5) = 20 years.
  • Diva's age = 3x = 3(5) = 15 years.

Now,

Sum of their ages = 20 + 15 = 35 years.

The sum of their ages is 35 years.

Answer:

✳️ Given ✳️

  • Ten years ago Diva's age was half of Namrata.
  • The ratio of today's their ages is 3:4.

✳️ To Find ✳️

  • What is the sum of their current age.

✳️ Solution ✳️

✒️ Let the present age of Diva's and Namrata are 3x and 4x years respectively.

Then, Ten years ago, age of Diva's = 3x - 10

And, ten years ago, age of Namrata = 4x - 10

✍️ Now, ten years ago, the age of Diva's was half of the age of Namrata.

According to the question,

\implies 3x - 10 = \dfrac{4x - 10}{2}

✏️ By doing cross multiplication we get,

\implies 6x - 20 = 4x - 10

\implies 2x = 10

\implies x = \sf\dfrac{\cancel{10}}{\cancel{2}}

\dashrightarrow x = 5

Hence, the age of Diva's = 3x = 3(5) = 15

And, the age of Namrata = 4x = 4(5) = 20

\therefore The sum of their ages is = 15 + 20 = 35 years.
