Ten years ago, mother was 12 times as old as her daughter and ten years later she will be twice as old as her daughter will be. Find the present ages.

Let

the present age of mother be x

And the present age of daughter be y

A/Q

x-10=12(y-10)

x-10=12y-120

x-10+120=12y

x+110=12y

x=12y-110

And

x+10=2(y+10)

x+10=2y+20

x+10-20=2y

x-10=2y

x=2y+10

12y-110=2y+10

12y-2y=10+110

10y=120

y=12

x=12×12-110

x=34

So,

The present age of mother =34

The present age of daughter =12
