Let Geeta's present age be x.

Then ; her(geeta) age ten years ago will be.

⇨ x - 10

Rita's age ( ten years ago) ⇨ x-10+5

⇨ x - 5

Five year later :

 \sf \frac{x + 5}{x}  =  \frac{10}{9} \\  \\  \sf9x + 45 = 10x  \\  \\   \red{\sf 45 = x}  =  \sf \red{ geeta \:  \: age} \\  \\  \sf \: \red{45 + 5 = 50 = rita \:  \: age}

Answer:

X=45 y=40

Step-by-step explanation:

let

Rita's present age be x

Geeta's present age be y

ten years ago

Rita age=x-10

Geeta age=y-10

Now

x-10=y-10+5

x-10=y-5

x-y=5 eq1

Five years hence

Rita age=x+5

Geeta age=y+5

x+5/y+5=10/9

9x-10y=5 eq2

Multiplying by 9 in eq1

We get

9x-9y=45 eq3

From eq2 and eq3 (by subtracting)

We get

y=40

Put this value in eq3

E

We get

x=45
