Heya user

Given :-

Ten years ago, the age of a person’s mother was three times the age of her son. Ten years hence, the mother’s age will be two times the age of her son.

To Find :-

The ratio of their present age.

Solution :-

According to 1st condition:-

Let the age of the son ten years ago be x years.

&

the age of the mother will be 3x years.

Hence, the present age of the son will be x+10 years.

& the age of the mother will be 3x+10 years.

According to 2nd condition :-

After ten years,

the mother's age will be 3x+10+10

& the son's age will be x +10+10

As per the question, we have :-

(3x+10)+10 = {2 ( x+10) +10}

➯ 3x +20 = 2x +40

x = 20

Therefore,

The present age of the mother

= 3(20) + 10

=70 years

The present age of the son

= 20 +10

= 30 years

Hence, the ratio is 7:3.

That's why, the correct option is D) 7:3

Thanks
