Solution:

let son's present age = x year

10 year ago son's age was (x-10) year

10 year ago mother's age was 3(x-10) year

now 10 year hence son's age will be (x+10) year and mother's age will be 2(x+10) year or 3(x-10)+20 year.

according to the equation

2(x+10) = 3(x-10)+20

2x+20 = 3x-10

and x = 30 year

so son's present age is 30 year and mother's present age is 70 year.

ratio of son's present age and mother's present age = 30:70 = 3:7.
