When the king rejected the proposal of one person one vote the members of the third estate walked out if the assembly in protest.
On 20 july 1789, the members of the third estate assembled in the hall of an indoor tennis court in the grounds of Versailles. They declared themselves as the National Assembly and drafted a constitution for France which limited the powers of a monarch .They were led by Mirabeau and Abbé Sieyés. This was termed as Tennis Court Oath.
