To find : Determine the position of points (5, -6) , Tentukan posisi titik (5,-6)

Solution:

Determine the position of points (5, -6) with respect to the circle x² + y² = 25 ???

A. circle

B.in the circle

C. outside the circle

D. cannot be determined

x² + y² = 25

=>  x² + y² = 5²

(x - h)² + (y - k)² = r²

=> center of circle = (0 , 0)

pusat lingkaran =(0 , 0)

& radius = 5

Point ( 5 , -6) distance from center of circle

= √(5 - 0)² + (-6-0)²

= √25 + 36

= √61    > 5

Distance is more than radius

A point, whose distance from the centre of a circle is greater than its radius lies in Exterior of the circle

Hence point lies outside circle
