In hilly regions, there is a greater possibility for soil erosion o account of the mountain slopes. We know that fast-flowing water has the capacity to wither away soil. In hilly areas, when there is rainfall, the water does not accumulate, but it flows away due to its slope. Thus to accumulate rainwater, channels and bridges are built across the slope. This process is called terracing
