Solution:

Let say phone was before  = 100P   £

refurbished phone now = 35%  

refurbished phone now =  (35/100)100P = 35P  

£refurbished phone now =   £78

Equating both

=> 35P = £78

=> P = 2.22857

=> 100P  = 222.857 £

phone before was 222.857 £
