Given :  vector B is added to vector A, the  resultant is 6î + Î

B is subtracted from  A the resultant is -4î + 7 Î

To find : the  magnitude of Ă

Solution:

Vector A  = Mî  + NÎ

Vector B = Pî + QÎ

vector B is added to vector A, the  resultant is 6î + Î

=> Mî  + NÎ  + Pî + QÎ  = 6î + Î

=> (M + P)î   + (N + Q)Î   = 6î + Î

=> M + P  = 6   , N + Q  = 1

B is subtracted from  A the resultant is -4î + 7Î

=> Mî  + NÎ  - ( Pî + QÎ ) =-4î + 7Î

=>  (M - P)î   + (N - Q)Î   =  -4î + 7Î

=> M - P = - 4   , N - Q  = 7

M + P  = 6 , M - P = - 4

=> M = 1 , P = 5

N + Q  = 1 , N - Q  = 7

=> N = 4  , Q  = -3

Ă = 1î  + 4Î

magnitude of Ă  = √1² + 4² = √17

Step-by-step explanation:

The resultant is found by adding vectors together. You can use the trig functions to find the x and y components of each vector, add them, and find the magnitude of the new vector...or, you can notice that 110° - 20° = 90°. So what you have is a 3, 4, 5 right triangle. The magnitude is 5.
