Answer:

Hey there!

Ur answer

We know,

A number is divisible by 3, if the sum of its all digits is a multiple of 3 or divisibility by 3.

a) 314

→ 3 + 1 + 4 = 8

8 is not divisible by 3. So, 314 is also not divisible by 3.

b) 915

→ 9 + 1 + 5 = 15

15 is divisible by 3. So, 915 is also divisible by 3.

Hope it helps you

To solve  : test the divisibility by 3 of following :

                  a) 314 b) 915

Solution :

  • In the given question we are asked to test the divisibility by 3 of given numbers .
  • Test of divisibility for 3 : according to test a number is divisible by 3 if sum of digits is divisible by 3  .
  • Therefore we first find sum of its digits and then whether the sum is divisible by 3 or not .

     a) 314

        3 + 1 +4 = 8

  • Since , sum 8 is not divisible by 3 , we can say that number 314 is not  divisible by 3 .

    b) 915

         9 + 1 +5 = 15

  • Since , sum 15 is divisible by 3 , we can say that number 915 is   divisible by 3 .

Hence , only number 915 is divisible by 3 .
