Give a chemical test to distinguish between ethanol and ethanoic acid. Answer: Ethanoic acid turns blue litmus solution red being acidic in nature, whereas ethanol doesn't change the colour of the litmus solution.

ethanoic acid is belong to carboxylic group.as COOH and ethanol are commonly called alcohol as CH₃CH₂OH

they react in Esterification  process as ---
