Test tube babies are produced by a process call IVF (In Vitro Fertilization).
IVF is one of the ways of fertilization of female ovum (egg) with a sperm outside the woman’s body and inside glass in a fluid medium. It includes many things: to stimulate a woman’s ovulation process to remove eggs from the ovaries; then in a glass container, fertilizing it by a sperm through a careful injection.
The zygote in glass is monitored through an embryo culture for 2 – 6 days. In this period the embryo grows using the nutrients present inside the medium in the glass. It becomes 32-cell stage zygote. A best grown zygote is selected and is introduced into the same mother’s or a surrogate woman’s uterus (into the inner wall).
The whole idea of test tube baby’s process is to establish a successful pregnancy. This is meant for couples, who for different reasons, could not result in pregnancy by natural means.
