• 2⁴⁸ - 1 is divisible by two whole numbers between 60 and 70.

Now we can write

• 2⁴⁸ = (2⁶)⁸

= (64)⁸

So the it can be written as

= (63 + 1)⁸ or ( 65 - 1)⁸

Reminder = 1⁸ or -1⁸

in both cases we will get reminder = 1 ( as after expansion of terms )

So the smaller number = 63
