Answer:

\huge\mathtt\purple{x = 3 ; y = 2}

Explanation:

3x - y = 7 - (i)

x + 4y = 11 - (ii)

Firstly taken (i)

3x - y = 7

3x = 7+y

x =  \frac{7 + y}{3}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  - (iii)

Put value of x (iii) in (ii)

x + 4y = 11

 \frac{7 + y}{3}  + 4y = 11( Take LCM )

 \frac{7 + y + 12y}{3}  = 11

 \frac{7 + 13y}{3}  = 11

7 + 13y = 11 \times 3

7 + 13y = 33

13y = 33 - 7 = 26

13y  = 26

y =  \frac{26}{13}

y = 2

Now, put the value of y in (iii)

x =  \frac{7 + y}{3}

x =  \frac{7 + 2}{3}

x =   \frac{9}{3}

x = 3

\large\mathbb\red{x = 3 ; y = 2}

Answer:

correct \: answer

3x−7=7....(1)

x+4y=11....(2)

Multiply (1) by 4

12x−4y=28....(3)

x+4y=11....(2)

Add (3) and (2)

13x=39

x=3

a−y=7

y=2
