Correct Question :

\dfrac {4}{8} + 12 = 4x - 2 .

Find the value of x

\huge\underline\green {\tt Solution}

Method : 1

\dfrac {4}{8} + 12 = 4x - 2

\dfrac {4 + 96}{8} = 4x - 2

\dfrac {100}{8} = 4x - 2

\dfrac {100}{8} + 2 = 4x

\dfrac {100 + 16}{8} = 4x

➡ 116 = 4x × 8

➡ 116 = 32x

x = \dfrac{116}{32}

•°• x = 3.625

Method : 2 ( cross multiplication )

\dfrac {4}{8} + 12 = 4x - 2

\dfrac {4+96}{8} = 4x - 2

\dfrac {100}{8} = 4x - 2

➡ 100 = 8 ( 4x - 2 )

➡ 100 = 32x -16

➡ 100 + 16 = 32x

➡ 116 = 32x

 x = \dfrac {116}{32}

•°• x = 3.625

Therefore,

Value of x is 3.625

Question:

\sf If \: \dfrac{4}{8}+12=4x-2 \: then\: find \: x

Given:

 \dfrac{4}{8}+12=4x-2

To find:

The value of x

Explanation:

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  \dfrac{4}{8}  + 12 = 4x - 2 \\  \\   \longrightarrow \sf\dfrac{ \cancel  4}{ \cancel 8}+12=4x-2 \\  \\  \longrightarrow \sf  \dfrac{1}{2}  + 12 = 4x - 2

Taking LCM

 \longrightarrow \sf  \dfrac{1 + 24}{2}  = 4x - 2 \\  \\  \longrightarrow \sf 25 = 2(4x - 2) \\  \\  \longrightarrow \sf 8x - 4 = 25 \\  \\  \longrightarrow \sf 8x = 25 + 4 \\  \\  \longrightarrow \sf 8x = 29 \\  \\  \longrightarrow \boxed{  \sf x =  \dfrac{29}{8} }
