 {4x}^{2}  - 2x - 8 = 0

SOLUTION:

x1 =  \frac{( - 2) -  \sqrt{ {( - 2)}^{2} }  - 4 \times 4 \times ( - 8)}{2 \times 4}  \\  =  \frac{2 - 2 \sqrt{32} }{8}  \\  =  - 1.186

x2 =  \frac{( - 2) +  \sqrt{ {( - 2)}^{2} - 4 \times 4 \times ( - 8) } }{2 \times 4}  \\  =  \frac{2 + 2 \sqrt{33} }{8 }  \\  = 1.686
